The Bills passed by the State Legislative
Assembly and assented to by the Governor or the President and
Ordinances promulgated by the Governor are all published by
the Law Department as part of its legislative business. In addition,
Legislation (Publication) Section publishes annual volumes of
Acts and Ordinances and Statutory Rules and Notification. The
re-publication of Bills and Acts of the Parliament, or Reports
of Select Committee on Central Bills and Ordinances promulgated
by the President are also undertaken by this section. The other
functions of the Publication Wing are-
(i) Preparation of annual list of
enactments in force in the State
(ii) Preparation of the Rules Code
and periodical revision thereof
(iii) Preparation of the State Code and periodical
revision thereof.
(iv) Printing and supply of copies of State
Acts and Ordinances
(v) Preparation of annual Index of
Statutory Rules and Notification
The Publication section also offers comments called for
from State Governments in respect of legislative measures
proposed to be initiated by the Central Government and on
proposals for Law Reforms taken up by the Indian Law Commission.
The Bills and enactments of other States are also examined
with a view to initiate new legislative proposals.
