1. Law Portal
The Project is being implemented in two distinct phases. As per the first Phase of the activity, a Website for Law Department was hosted. The site is available for logging at www.keralalawsect.org. The major initiative was the construction of 'KERALA CODE' in the site, where a Database for all Kerala Acts and Rules is being created. The Web pages for the 'Kerala Code' is designed in such a way that the principal Act is capable of being viewed with up-to-date amendments duly carried out along with all the Rules issued there under having facility to retrieve any section of the Act at the discretion of the viewer without browsing the entire Act in the Web Pages and that too with a single window, besides facility of keyword and advanced search options. Facility to view Amendment Acts, quick reach to top/middle/bottom portions of the Act, access to the Search Menu, Rules, Amendments, Location Map and Act Contents are some of the specialties. State enactments are being updated by incorporating up-to-date amendments issued to the principal enactment and forwarded to M/S KELTRON (Web Services) for uploading in the site.
2. Digitization of Law Library

The Law Library is equipped with rare law books. The scheme of digitization of rare books is intended to achieve the object of keeping the old books digitized, which are rare in nature. It is proposed to digitize 2 lakhs pages of old and rare law books. The work is progressing.

3. The Scheme of Modernisation of Law Department –Phase II(B)

Modernisation of Law Department is a Plan Scheme approved by the Planning Commission and funds were provided as Special ACA for its implementation. The scheme is implemented in phased manner. The objective of the Scheme is to introduce Information Technology in Law Department with a view to speed up legal advice by building up a data base which can be assessed by the Departments. It is also intended to automate all functionalities of Law Department including the critical knowledge based functions like Legislation, Legal Opinion, Conveyancing, Translation and also to build up a Law Information Management System (LIMS) for State Law Secretariat. The Phase I of the project had ensured the installation of nine software modules in different sections of Law Department. A three year perspective plan is proposed for the implementation of Phase II, viz Phase II(A), Phase II(B) and Phase II(C). Phase II of the Project is intended for covering the critical knowledge based functions of Legislation, Legal Opinion, Conveyancing, Translation and also developing a Knowledge Management System (KMS) and document organization System (DMS) for the State Law Department. The Phase II(A) implementation of the project was also successfully completed. Implementation of Phase II(B) of the project is currently in progress. The current phase is intended for developing software modules for Conveyancing, Subordinate Legislation, Suits with interface to File Management System and installing computer aided translation and its tools in the Translation section, besides implementing Knowledge Management System, Document Management System, File flow in all sections of the Law Department. The work is executed through M/s KELTRON(TSP).

4. The Project of Court Cases Monitoring Solution for Law Offices – Phase III

The project of Court Cases Monitoring Solutions for Law Offices is conceived to implement a computerized Court Case Tracking and Monitoring System at fourteen District Government Pleaders Offices in Kerala and Law Office at New Delhi and the Office of the Advocate General at Ernakulam. The project is intended for enabling Government to effectively conduct and monitor cases. Phase I and II of the Project has been successfully completed. The 14 District Government Pleader’s Office in the State and the Law Office at New Delhi have brought under the online Monitoring System. With the implementation of the Phase II of the project, the status of all the pending Government cases in the District Courts and in the Supreme Court can be viewed online at the Law Department and at the office of the Hon’ble Minister (L&P) and any other offices in the State. Implementation of Phase III of the project is currently in progress. The Phase III of the project is intended for implementing ‘Online Monitoring System’ at the Office of the Advocate General. .
