The Kerala Secretariat Law Department Library is a general Reference Library for all officers of the Law Department. Even though the Library is a part of the Law (Administration) Section, it is under the immediate control of the Secretary to Government, Law Department. The Library functions in accordance with the General Rules of the Kerala Secretariat Law Department Library.

The working hours of the Library are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on all working days. The Librarian is responsible for the proper performance of all work connected with the Library. The books of the Library are ordinarily issued only to members of the staff of the Law Department.

There are at present about 25,000 books in the Library. The fact that the Library subscribes to the Government of India Gazette makes it a unique reference library for the whole State. The Acts, Proclamations and Regulations of Travancore, Travancore-Cochin and Cochin are kept year wise in the Library. In addition, Kerala Gazettes and Acts of the States, bound into convenient volumes are kept year wise for reference in the Library. The library also subscribes to 29 law reports.

The proposal of computerization of the Library is pending with Government. The computer installed in the Library in the year 2000 is equipped with INTERNET facilities, CD-Roms of Supreme Court judgments and Kerala High Court judgments are also available in the Library.
